Overview

World War Two era United States Army Air Force (USAAF) 'Prop and Wings' collar badge.
It features a vertical two-blade aircraft propeller flanked by two horizontal, detailed outstretched wings.
The reverse is plain except for the maker's details and there is a pin clasp for attachment.

Historical information

Most examples of these collar badges have two lugs for attachment. However, this one has a brooch clasp. They are also made from a variety of materials including sterling silver and gold filled silver and are generally masked as such.
This example was made in Australia by Brisbane manufacturer Wallace Bishop and has no indication as to the composition of the metal.
