WWI era patriotic tag with ribbon and verse

Overview

World War One era patriotic souvenir in the form of a luggage label with joined sections of red, white and blue silk ribbon threaded through a reinforced eyelet on the right hand side.
The red section of ribbon on the left is stitched to the backing card. A loop of white ribbon is stitched to the red ribbon and then the blue ribbon is threaded through the white. The two loose ends of the blue ribbon extend beyond the tag, terminating in two pearl coloured plastic beads.
The pro-Allied, anti-German verse 'A trick the Kaiser cannot do—Separate the white from the blue' is written in cursive script in black ink across the top of the tag.
The reverse has the number '4' written in ink in the centre, and some faint text in pencil across the top. It appears to read 'Sold Mrs Counsel or Collins. The red cotton stitching around the red ribbon on the front is viisible.

Historical information

This fundraising tag is one of a number of patriotic items in the collection produced during World War One to raise money and bolster morale on the home front.
There is reference to a Peace Day League fundraising drive held in Adelaide on Friday 16 March 1916 where the chief novelites sold included tiny bricks tied with ribbons and a 'Trick the Kaiser cannot do - Separate red white and blue'. Proceeds were to be used to provide homes for incapacitated soldiers and care for the worst affected.
