Also has four (4) blue “SHIPPING MASTER SYDNEY” stamps shown on right side, next to dates of medals authorized.

Contextual information

Raymond Parker WARBURTON was employed as an Electrical Engineer on board the HMAT A4 Pera, a transport ship owned by P&O London, which was leased by the Commonwealth during the First World War. Raymond was employed on 1/12/1915 in London, although he officially boarded the HMAT Pera in Melbourne on the 18/10/1914 and sailed to Albany Western Australian, where the first convoy amassed in King George Sound and departed on the 01/11/1914. The Pera was torpedoed and sunk on the 19/10/1917, and later Raymond was transferred unto the ship, ‘SS Shropshire’. Raymond was discharged on the 13/06/1919 at Sydney, Australia. This Authority Certificate enables the recipient to wear listed war medals due to their qualifying war service.
