Kangaroo Minute Butter Churn
c. 1890This Kangaroo Minute Butter Churn has a cast-iron, red, enameled base and handle which were designed to be mounted on a table top. The tin cream container was attached to the base with butterfly screws on a metal threaded rods. There are no paddles inside the cream container, instead the container was rocked from side to side when the operator turned the handle, in a manner mimicking the kick of a Kangaroo’s legs, hence the name. HH Hinds guaranteed 40 rotations per minute and claimed it was the fastest churn on the market at the time.
