GENERAL EMBROIDERY, BOOK MARK

Overview

Embroidered bookmark by Guild Member, Joan Sibenaler, was stitched in late 1950s by her aged 9,10 or 11, when attending East Fremantle Primary School, in Western Australia.

This stitching was part of WA Education sewing curricula for girls.

Bookmark stitched on green cotton fabric, uses stitches of buttonhole on the sides, stem, lazy daisy, running and whipped running stitch sewn with perle 12 cotton thread. Words ‘Book Mark” embroidered in whipped running stitch.

Ends are fringed.
