WWI Australian Y.M.C.A. gift for returning soldiers
1919Thick natural leather cigarette case made from two sections, one fitting inside of the other. On the upper section is an embossed map of Australia containing the inverted triangle symbol and initials of the Y.M.C.A., above which is written 'Home' and below which is '1919'.
According to Trove, the Y.M.C.A. in South Australia presented souvenir leather cigarette cases to South Australian soldiers returning from World War 1 service. This appears to have happened from mid-1919 to the end of the same year.
