WWI era crystal glass inkwell with silver inscribed lid

c. 1915
Overview

Square crystal glass inkwell with circular silver hinged lid. There is a very fine glass insert which would have held the ink, but which is cracked and in pieces. The lid is engraved and reads: 'Presented to Miss K.M. Higman by her V.A.D. members as a token of appreciation'.
There is a wad of cotton wool in the lid. There are a series of silver hallmarks on a silver ring around the upper surface of the glass.
