Overview

World War Two era Royal Air Force silver tone and enamel sweetheart brooch.
It features detailed outspread pilot wings flanking a central wreath containing the silver letters 'RAF' on a bright blue enamel background, surmounted by a King's Crown with red enamel detailing.
The reverse is plain and it has a pin clasp for attachment.

Historical information

This sweetheart brooch is one of many produced and sold to servicemen to give to their loved ones during wartime.

There are two brooches which are virtually identicial in the collection. They only differ in the colour of the background blue enamel - this one being lighter in colour than the other.
