William Shaw Collecting Firewood
William Shaw in dark trousers, light coloured shirt and tie, dark braces and dark hat with an armful of firewood collected for a fire to boil a billy at a picnic on the river foreshore at the Bay Road reserve.
William Shaw was born 10-02-1986 in England. Arrived in WA in 1897 with father Peter. Married Edith Jane Marsh from Karridale on 26th December 1909 at Perringulup Great Southern, before returning to Perth for work. (Her parents farm there, Rose Hill Farm). Lived firstly in 41 Claremont Crescent (3rd house up from Stirling Road), then built and moved to 21 Stirling Road in 25-12-1917. The house never finished because of hardships of 1st World War and then depression. Had four children, Sarah, (called Olive) b.11-06-1911, William Alfred b.29-04-1917, Arthur Edward b.18-08-1919 and George James b.03-03-1922. Was a jeweller by trade.
