Historical information

William Shaw (1886-1969), son of Peter William Shaw (1856-1923) and Sarah Anne Holloway (1862-1924), was born in Oldham, Lancashire, England on 10 February 1886.

Married Edith Jane Marsh (1887-1969) at Katanning, Western Australia on the 26th December 1909.

William, a jeweller by trade, and Edith had four children:

- Sarah Olive 'Olive' Shaw (1911-1996)
- William Alfred Shaw (1917-1988)
- Arthur Edward Shaw (1919-1979)
- George James Shaw (1922-1991)

The family lived firstly at 41 Claremont Crescent,Claremont then moved to 21 Stirling Road, Claremont in December 1917 into a house being built by Peter Shaw. The house was never finished because of the hardships of World War I and then the depression.

Daughter Olive, never married, and lived most of her life in the family home at 21 Stirling Road. In December 1984 she moved to a retirement home in Nedlands.

William died on 15 October 1969 aged 83.
Edith died on 13 June 1969 aged 81.
