WWI era patriotic bone china fluted cup, saucer and plate set
c. 1915WWI era patriotic white, fluted, bone china cup, saucer and plate set with gilt edges.
The plate and the cup share the same central image of the flags of the allied nations: Great Britain, Belgium, Russia and France.
Where the flagpoles join, there is a wreath of leaves with a golden brown rose at the base, some rope with tassels on the ends, and a yellow scroll with the words 'For Right and Freedom' written in black lettering.
Above this on the rim of the plate is a depiction of the King's crown in gold and red, under which a blue decorative scroll appears. The same crown is present on the saucer.
There are no maker's marks on any of the items, but a few small gold and red paint brushstrokes are present.
A patriotic cup, saucer and plate produced early in the Great War to show the solidarity of the allied nations in fighting a common enemy with a common purpose - For Right and Freedom.
