WWI patriotic fundraising silk ribbon
c. 1915World War One era section of cream coloured silk ribbon cut from a longer roll.
It features the crossed flags of the United Kingdom and Australia in red, white and blue in the centre. Above and below this are three horizontal blue lines. The words 'For King and Country' appear above the flags and 'Rule Britannia! Britannia rules the waves!' (like the British patriotic song lyrics) appear below.
The reverse of the ribbon is plain.
This fundraising ribbon is one of a number of patriotic items in the collection produced during World War One to raise money and bolster morale on the home front.
