WWI era patriotic fundraising pin in the form of a miniature woollen doll
c. 1915World War One era patriotic fundraising pin in the form of a miniature doll made from red, white and blue wool.
The main body, face and legs of the doll are made from white wool with a red waist and hair, blue arms and scarf/hat. A small loop of wool secures the ends of the arms and legs, although one has been lost from an arm.The details on the face are in black wool.
A metal pin for attachment is threaded through a pale blue piece of wool at the neck of the doll and the red waistband.
During World War One, people owned and wore patriotic items such as this to show their support. It may have been made and sold to raise funds for the troops.
A similar woollen doll pin was sold to raise funds for the Red Cross. This one may have been for the French Red Cross.
