Second World War Japanese POW postcard sent from Private L.O. Moir to his parents in Western Australia. On thin cardboard preprinted postcard with spaces for comment. Japanese ink stamps. “IMPERIAL JAPANESE ARMY” in bold print on one side.

Inscriptions and markings

On front in large print “SERVICE DES PRISONNIERS DE GUERRE” then also in print “Name / Nationality / Rank / Camp / No: / POW Camp Thailand” Private Moir has handwritten with ink in the spaces provided “L. Moir / Australian / Driver / 4. In print “To:-“ then handwritten in ink “Mr + Mrs G.C. Moir / GLENELG / BORDEN / WEST. AUSTRALIA”. Japanese symbol prints.
On reverse heading in large print “ IMPERIAL JAPANESE ARMY” then also in print “Date / Your mails (and ) are received with thanks / My health is (good, usual, poor) / I am ill in hospital / I am working for pay (I am paid monthly salary) / I am not working / My best regards to / Yours ever,”. Private Moir has filled in spaces where appropriate “4 Jun 1944 / All at home and all friends / Loving son Lloyd” and crossed out some of the print.
