Overview

Second World War Japanese POW postcard sent from Private L.O. Moir to his mother in Western Australia. On thin aged card there are some Japanese symbol stamps and a handwritten address on the front. On the reverse is a handwritten note from Pte Moir.

Inscriptions and markings

On front of card there are a number of printed and stamped Japanese symbols plus a Censor stamp in purple and a red stamp “Sce DES PRISONNIERS DE GUERRE”. Also there is a handwritten address in ink “Mrs G.C. Moir / Glenelg / Borden / Western Australia”. On the reverse is a handwritten message “Dear Mum and Dad / Pleased to let / you know I am happy and well. / Our treatment and living conditions / are good so do not worry. / Lots of love to you, Dad / and family / Your loving son Lloyd / L.O. Moir. W.X9338. Private.”
