Overview

Sepia studio portrait of head and shoulders of Maida Sharkey. Her hair is parted and drawn into a plaited coil over her ear. The scooped neckline of her outfit is decorated with beaded scrolls. The background is softly shaded and across the bottom left corner is written [ Bardwell Parke Studios/ ? Bon Marche/ ?]. The print is mounted on heavy, bevelled card. It is protected by embossed tissue and enclosed in a light card folder.

Historical information

Born in Claremont. Maida Sharkey was born in December 1905 and was the daughter of Raymond and Edith Florence Sharkey of Wainomi, 3 Victoria Avenue. Maida married John Lefroy in 1932.
