c. 1900Sets of ceramic flying ducks, usually in groups of 3, were a very popular home décor in the 1950s and 1960s,
Made in the home of English pottery, Stoke-on-Trent, at the Beswick Factory in England between 1938 and 1976, the Mallard ducks and other birds, including kingfishers and kookaburras, were popular with the rising middle class.
This doyley, with three embroidered Mallard ducks flying over a pond, encapsulates their popularity in the mid 20th century.
