BEADWORK, BAG
Handmade beaded bags have been fashionable for over 200 years. This exquisite drawstring hand woven beaded evening bag made in France late 18th C was purchased by the donor in antique shop in 1990s.
The bag with hand woven glass beads in a colourful floral design is lined with silk and has silk cord drawstring.
Drawstring bags, also called reticules, Dorothy bags, Dorcas bags or Dolly Bags were fashionable evening bags for ladies in late 19th and early 20th centuries. The shiny beads glistened in the candlelight giving a glamourous effect.
