BEADWORK, BAG
A hand-stitched beaded evening bag, made in France, belonged to Marjorie Scorer, who hand-made beaded evening bags and collars for Boans Department Store in Perth CBD in 1930s.
Copper and white seed beads and white sequins, hand stitched in scrolling design on white silk taffeta fabric. Embossed gilt metal frame has a twin twist pearl metal clasp. A short metal chain handle is attached on each side of the opening. Rectangular base is beaded and stiffened with lined cardboard. Cream silk satin lining.
Small embroidered label inside states: ‘Made in France.’
