BEADWORK, BAG

c. 1960 - 1969
Overview

In the 1960s, the English Pop Music rock band THE BEATLES was a musical phenomena. Following the well publicised tour of India in 1968, they popularised wooden beads as jewellery and on costume. Hand-made wooden beaded hand bags of ethnic-hippie style became popular accessories.

This semi-circular bag covered with large round and oblong black/dark navy wooden beads, lined with dark blue silk, a zip closure and wooden bead handle.
