GENERAL EMBROIDERY, APRON

c. 1930 - 1939
Overview

A beautifully embroidered lady’s calico apron from the late 1920s to 1930s. A great amount of work on a day to day apron. Stamped patterns on calico aprons were prevalent at this time and very popular for ladies to embroider. Ordered from Women’s magazines and catalogues.

The design is of a kookaburra in a gum tree, a spray of gum nuts to the right side branch. The one pocket on the right is embroidered as part of the gum tree design.

Apron has a crochet edging 15 mm wide as has the pocket. Unfinished as no straps to tie around the waist.
Never used. Small foxing mark near pocket.
