Overview

A Spanish signature cloth. In the centre are the words: ‘ Barcelona 1 December 1897’. Signatures scattered around the cloth in red stem stitch are beautifully worked. 25cm folded hem on which is embroidered words in Spanish, translated below by Spanish teacher.
1. Donde hay saca y nunca pon presto se acaba el bolson
If you put money in a pot or bag, and take, and take, and take it out quickly, nothing will be left!
2. Elhombre es fuego la meyer estropa viene el diallo y sopla ..!!
Man is fire and the woman stops it, but then the devil comes around and blows on it, starting it again.
3. Quien bien tiene y mal escoje, por mal que le venga no se enoje / Caramba..!
If somebody who is well off and makes bad choices, ok, don’t complain, as you made your own
choices. Oh! OK!
4. apa noya - dime con quien andas y te dire quien eres. Ole’! viva tu mare
Tell me with whom you mix and I will tell you who you are. Hooray! Long live your Mother!
