LACE, SOL, NANDUTI, EDGING

c. 1900
Overview

A very fine delicate edging of Tenerife lace, called NANDUTI, having been made in Paraguay.
See notes on TENERIFE LACE which outlines the origins of the different terminologies.

Consists of 9 medallions, alternating in two different patterns. One edge straight the other, scalloped. Centres have a densely woven pattern, surrounded by delicate intricate light weaving patterns almost as fine as a spider’s web.

In four sections on the straight edge, the threads are broken, possibly having been cut when removing the lace edge from fabric.
