JACK PLANE

Overview

Rectangular section body with a handle installed near the rear portion, at the front is a post which is the handle. A keyhole section slot to accommodate the blade is about halfway along the upper body while a smaller rectangular slot for the blade projection is in the lower surface.
It has the name A.K.DUNCAN stamped on the body in three places.

Historical information

Tools used by Charles Duncan in his Blacksmith and Wheelright shop. The shop was called Duncan & McNamee and was located on the corner of Jull Street and Third Road. It was open from 1926-1938. Jack planes are used to resize woodwork items.

Bergs Aust Tools were known for the manufacturing of woodwork planes, tools and carpenter tools, skis and mouldings. They made planes from the late 1940s to mid 1950s.
