CIRCULAR PLANE STANLEY
1926 - 1938Body of the plane is a flybridge design with knobs at either end, open upper section with a cross bracket to accommodate the sole plate adjuster. The sole plate is a thin flexible sheet of steel connected to the body by links at either end which allows it to provide a curved surface,
The blade and depth adjuster is situated behind the cross bracket in the larger aperture.
The plane was finished in pale green and the body has been broken in front of the cross bracket and has been repaired by welding.

Tools used by Charles Duncan in his Blacksmith and Wheelright shop. The shop was called Duncan & McNamee and was located on the corner of Jull Street and Third Road. It was open from 1926-1938.
This circular plane by Stanley is the No 20 Circular Plane (Type 1). 2/7/93 refers to the designer, Edmunds Schades, patent date. Stanley bought the patent to Leonard Bailey's, 19th century tool designer, Victor plane range in 1884. Victor No 20 refers to the Victor range. Bailey and Stantley Rule and Lever Company had various patent infringement suits and charges throughout their history.
