1993 Intercontinental Cup (Baseball), Italy – signed fixtures poster
1993A B1-size colour poster, printed on white, gloss paper, advertising the 1993 11th Intercontinental Baseball Cup held in Italy. In the top half of the poster is the logo for the competition, styled to resemble a baseball in shades of blue with red and green stitching to the ball. Printed on the image of the baseball are the location and year of the competition and the name of the international baseball association. A darker-blue, circular border around the baseball has the name of the competition and the dates. Surrounding the logo are 25 hand-written signatures of Australian baseball team members.
In the bottom half of the poster are the names of the 10 competing countries printed in green text. Below that is a blue and white grid-lined table displaying the playing schedule, with dates, times, venues and opposing teams.
At the bottom of the poster are the logos of the Italian Baseball Softball Federation, the International Baseball Association, and three sporting goods companies.
The 1993 Intercontinental Cup was the pre-event to the 1994 World Championship Series in Nicaragua. This international competition was held in Northern Italy, between 23 June and 4 July, utilising nine venues. It afforded the 10 competing teams—Australia, Cuba, France, Italy, Japan, Spain, USA, Mexico, Nicaragua and South Korea—the opportunity to 'scout' opponents, and for Australia to select players for the 1994 event.
Australia finished the series with a 5‒4 win-loss record, the same as Korea and Nicaragua. However, only Nicaragua progressed to the semi-finals. Final medal winners were Cuba (gold), USA (silver), Japan (bronze).
The poster has been signed by 21 of the 22 Australian team players, the manager, coaches and physiotherapist. They are:

Australia's shock 7‒5 win over the USA on 25 June in Bologna was the first time Australia had beaten the USA in a major tournament.
Aaron Harvey's inclusion in the 'All-Star' team following completion of the series was also a significant achievement.
This is the only poster from the tournament that displays signatures of Australian team members. It was donated to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives by Australian team Executive Officer Paul Tye.
