GOLD WORK,CAPE
During the 1890s the cape evolved from a traditional article of outerwear to a major fashion item in its own right, transcending the purely practical and evolving into a fashion work of art. Because of the loose sizing and easy construction, capes lent themselves to mass production and many styles were offered.
A stunning pale green silk satin cape with embroidered panels at the front, collar and back of goldwork including purls and sequins. It is lined with red and pink. The embroidery may have been produced in India to suit the Western Market
