MACHINE EMBROIDERY, HAT
2004Silk paper art-work hat designed, embroidered and made by WA Textile Artist, Judith Pinnell in Perth.
Purchased at Fibres West in 2023.
Variegated hand-made silk paper formed into a turban style hat. Front of hat has an appliqued panel hand machine embroidered with elements in goldwork and seed glass beads attached to a beaded band. This is her interpretation of the burka and that many women need to cover their face.
A bunch of dyed ostrich feathers attached to centre top.
Inside is a cotton mesh hat frame and a label “Created by Judith Pinnell’.
