GENERAL EMBROIDERY, PANEL
c. 1940 - 1949An older panel of braid embroidery made by the Miao from around Kaili, Guizhou, China. Braids are made on a special device, then applied to cotton fabric, in a design traditional to the village. This braid was also used as points.
The edging of fine couching green on green is not seen on more recent pieces, so indicating an older piece. The design features the ‘dragon’ looking more like a slug.
