Exquisite example of Chinese double sided silk embroidery of the final quarter of 20th C
Design of two panda bears sitting under a bamboo tree, eating bamboo, their staple food.
The round picture is set in a carved round mahogany wooden frame which stands in scrolling carved mahogany base.
The Chinese consider its deep root of the bamboo denotes resoluteness; its tall, straight stem represents honor; its hollow interior modesty and its clean and spartan exterior exemplifies chastity. Ancient Chinese literature held bamboo in profound esteem.
