RIBBON WORK, PIN CUSHION

Overview

A charming novelty pincushion Victoriana inspired, in the shape of a purse with a gold metal clasp and twisted cord handle. Attached (b) is an embroidered needle sharpener with tassel and (c) a hat pin, the end of which is decorated with ribbon embroidery. These are technically excellent examples of ribbon work with beads, by Guild member Marlene Macrae who taught the technique. Finely stitched floral circular design work, typical of designs of 1980s, worked on pintucked silk fabric.
