Overview

Saye Goshe are v shaped embroideries which hang over the rolled-up bed quilts in tents and houses during the day. They are made by Turkic tribes and each of the different tribes has their own design. This may have been done by the Lakai who often used fringes, both beaded and unbeaded on their work. They show the care and high value placed on embroidery and the tribes woman’s pleasure in embellishing. It is from Uzbekistan and probably between 50 and 70 years of age. R edges of a
A large colourful design within the V shaped cover of rams horn within a larger rams horn with scalloped edges. Down each side three diamond shapes within squares with daisy flowers in each corner. A narrow band to the outer edge. The fringe hand made, beaded fringe is attached to the outer edge of the object. It has a cluster of white beads at each end. The backing fabric is a plain orange coloured fabric.
