METAL THREAD, PANEL

A delicate or nue silver and brass metal thread panel with design of grapes, 2 pomegranates, 2 butterflies and scrolls.

Butterfly symbol of happiness, beauty and elegance; pomegranate – long life and many children.

[As the threads have tarnished, it is guessed that the metal threads are silver and some brass].

The elements have purple and green or nue couching, on an ecru silk fabric.

This surrounded by a woven blue braid band, with pink flowers.

On the edge of the ecru silk fabric is narrow red silk piping and then a band of woven gold damask with abstract design edged with black silk.

The back ls lined with tan coloured silk fabric. On the back is a label with words’ No 13 Peking China”.
