TOOL, THREAD HOLDER

Overview

This ‘trolley needle’ also known as a ‘laying needle’ is a useful little known tool for hand embroidery. The tool is placed on the forefinger and used to control threads, keep them flat and smooth, when stitching into place - such as multiple strands of embroidery floss or silk ribbon or goldwork threads. This smoothness allows the light to reflect evenly off the fibres giving a beautiful sheen. Made in United States of America in late 20th century.

Tool is in its original box.
