First World War German Shrapnel Shell Fragment
c. 1914 - 1918Mushroom-shaped dark metal fragment. One end is a semi-circular “cap” on top of a “stem” with a flat bottom. The fragment shows damage from its use, although the “cap” is nearly its complete shape.
This shrapnel fragment was a souvenired in the First World War by Private William John BEER 1509 who served at Gallipoli and in France.
