Historical information

Tel El Fara is about 18 miles West of Beersheba and was important as a station on the railway line from Rafa. This was at one time a main Turkish defence, but after its capture, the main signalling station in Palestine of the Australian Light Horse was established here. Also, thirty men of various units, who fell in the period June to October 1917, are buried in the Military Cemetery here.
