William, seated on the left, is wearing a three-piece suit with tie and white shirt with foldover collar. He appears to be wearing black button boots.
Edith is standing at the back and wears a dark dress or skirt and jacket, a white high collared blouse with cameo broach and dark shoes . The dress comes to the top of the ankles. The jacket or top of dress has a large collar and buttons down the front.
Olive is standing at the front next to her father. She is wearing a long sleeved dress with dropped waist, cuffs which half cover the hands, a large light coloured frilly collar and many lines of self-tucking down the front of the bodice. She has long black socks and strap shoes and a large light coloured ribbon at the top of her hair.
William, the baby, is sitting on a plant stand leaning against his mother. He is wearing a long gown which has short sleeves and a wide skirt. It is white or very light in colour. He is holding something in his right hand, possibly a rattle.
William Shaw (c.1886-1969), son of Peter Shaw and Sarah Holloway.
Married Edith Jane Marsh (1887-1969) at Perringulup in the Great Southern region of Western Australia on the 26th December 1919.
William, a jeweller by trade, and Edith had four children:
Sarah Olive 'Olive' Shaw (1911-1996)
William Alfred Shaw (1917-1988)
Arthur Edward Shaw (1919-1979)
George James Shaw (1922-1991)
The family lived firstly at 41 Claremont Crescent, then moved to 21 Stirling Road, Claremont in December 1917 into a house being built by Peter Shaw. The house never finished because of the hardships of World War I and then the depression.
