Shaw Family And Friends On Jetty
1925William and Edith Shaw with family and friends sitting on the edge of the Claremont Teachers College jetty at the foot of Bay Road. Edith Shaw in large hat and light frock, William Shaw in dark trousers, white shirt and tie and dark hat, children in light clothes and hats.
The group all have their legs hanging over the edge of the jetty, all the children are bare footed.

William Shaw (c.1886-1969), son of Peter Shaw and Sarah Holloway, married Edith Jane Marsh (1888-1969) at Piringillup in the Great Southern in 1919.
William, a jeweller by trade, and Edith had four children:
Sarah Olive 'Olive' Shaw (1911-1996)
William Alfred Shaw (1917-1988)
Arthur Edward Shaw (1919-1979)
George James Shaw (1922-1991)
The family lived firstly at 41 Claremont Crescent, then built and moved to 21 Stirling Road, Claremont in 1917. The house never finished because of the hardships of World War I and then the depression.
Olive Shaw lived in the family home at 21 Stirling Road until December 1984, when she moved to a retirement home in Nedlands.
