DRAWN THREAD, PILLOW SHAMS
This bedspread, was part of a set of home linen made from scratch by an Italian family from Umbria, who migrated to WA in 1949. Flax grown on the family property, spun and woven into a bedspread, 2 sheets and hand towels.
Fine hand whitework embroidery with drawn thread insert, on pillow shams, part of the trousseau brought to Australia by an Italian immigrant in 1949.
Whitework embroidery, cotton thread on cotton fabric, with a drawn thread border. Embroidered with words, “Bono Notte” = Good Night.
Each pillow sham has a different machine Broderie Anglaise frill.
