GENERAL EMBROIDERY, MADIERA, SHEET, PILLOW CASES
c. 1970 - 1979Embroidered sheet and pillow cases were hand stitched by the donor’s mother, who made a set for the wedding trousseau for each of her three daughters in 1970s in Carnarvon.
The beautiful, finely stitched floral embroidery at one end of each item, is in the style of traditional Madeira embroidery, the home of donor’s mother. Pale blue cotton thread, floral design, buttonholed scalloped edge.
Tiny label at end states on one side: “An ACTIL product Made in Australia” and on the other side: “An ACTIL Product Cotton”.
The huge sheet is super king size. There is some foxing in a couple of places along fold lines.
One pillow case has small circle of foxing at centre of embroidered end.
