PHOTOGRAPH: SUBIACO MUNICIPAL MILITARY BAND

Overview

The original black and white photograph features the Subiaco Military Band arranged in three rows with a curtain in the background. The front row is seated with their hands on their knees. The Band members are in the uniform of jacket with high collar and large buttons, trousers with contrasting stripe running along outside leg, and each carries their own instrument. There are two drums on the floor in centre in front of H. Basham (conductor). There are two gentlemen in the front row wearing suit and tie.

The mount is headed with inscription 'Subiaco Municipal Military Band. Listed on the mount below are the names of the Band as follows: Back Row: R. Elkin, J. McGann, J. Lacey, R. Hillbrick, L. Stewart, G. Williams, S.W. Jane (Hon Sec), E. Stevens. Middle Row: H. Richardson, J. Benness, E. Corbitt, W. Baker, A.M. Foote, S. Taylor, S. Lone, D. Griffiths, J.J. Cohen. Front Row: C.F. Jewell, J. Hodgson, J. Farrington, F. Wade, H.L. Downe (Patron), H. Basham (Conductor), R.L. Newman (President), T. Hennessey, B. McDowall, E. Jewell, H. Whiteley.
