First World War Black and White Photograph of Cairo Skyline and Sultan Hassan Mosque

1915 - 1919
Overview

A small black and white photograph showing an elevated view of a city skyline featuring an ornate building that is identified as a mosque. The mosque stands proud against the skyline and its domes and 4 thin ornate turrets can be seen. There is a small garden in front of the mosque and other buildings can be seen around it. The picture is very dark and may have been taken in the evening, although this also could be from the development of the image as there are also several white spots and other marks showing. The reverse of the image has the proforma printing of part of a postcard and an inscription. The photograph has a small border and is in good condition.
