First World War Prussian Germany Ring
c. 1916A small white metal ring featuring a black Iron Cross on the bezel and the dates 1914 and 1916 on each of the arms. The metal is thin and the engraving is very worn. Inside the ring the metal is discoloured. The Iron Cross has a “W” in the center with a crown on top. There is a further marking under the “W”, but it is unreadable.
This ring was a souvenired in the First World War by Pte. William John BEER 1509 who served at Gallipoli and in France. Rings like this would have been worn during the First World War to show support for the war and may have been sold to raise funds for the war effort.
