Rectangular fawn card with black printed text and black written text. Black text written across top relating to her marriage to Ben Blomfield [Married at Wesley Church Perth on December 4/43 / to Benjamin George Blomfield / by me / Arthur B Lloyd / Riverton ]. Maiden name and former address have been crossed out. Black printed and written text on back. Purple text stamped front bottom left [MIDLAND JUNCTION]. On back extensive instructions about the identity card including signatures of Carmen Blomfield (signed as Llorens) and a witness J Somervell.

Historical information

Civilian identity card issued to Ms Carmen Theresa Llorens during World War II (c1943) when she was a resident at Bert Street in Gosnells. On 4 December 1943 Carmen married Benjamin Blomfield and they moved to Admiral Road in Bedfordale because Ben was working at the nearby Hiawatha Dairy. Carmen's identity card was update to reflect the changing of her last name and her new address.

Identity cards were issued to all British subject in Australia by the Federal Government in 1942. The cards were also part of a system to identify and monitor 'Aliens', or non-citizen residents, particularly non-Commonwealth, non-British and Asian residents
