CAMERA, FOLDING - NO 1A POCKET KODAK

Overview

When camera is closed, it is a compact rectangular box, rounded at each end and is covered in black leatherette. The front has a hinged, fold out door facilitated by a spring locking clip and fold out tab which acts as the front support for the camera. The body has a ''DEE'' shaped winder on the upper right edge. At the same end there is an engraved leather carry strap.

Access to load the film is by moving a clip below the hinged door to the right and pulling the lens and bellows assembly from the case. In the lower left is a round red window to view the number on the film.

The lens assembly door is opened by moving lever up and pulling it out, the lens and bellows assembly is then pulled along the track on the inside of the door to the appropriate focal length position. There is viewfinder top left of the lens assembly.

There is product information on the lens surround and on the slide and provision to adjust the shutter speed and aperture.

The pointed stylus is stored on clips next to camera lens and may be inserted through a hole in the back case to mark the film

Historical information

This is a folding camera that was manufactured by Eastman Kodak. The first No1A Pocket Kodak that used 116 film was manufactured in 1899. It underwent a number of updates until it was discontinued in 1926.
