Photographs of 1951 and 1952 Western Australian baseball teams
Two black and white photographs of 1950s Western Australian baseball teams. Pictured are the 1951 State baseball team at the railway station, and the 1952 South Perth Baseball Club's 'A' Grade team. The photos are mounted on light black card.
The 1951 State team competed at the Commonwealth Jubilee Baseball Championship Series, so named to commemorate the Jubilee Year of the Federation of the States of Australia into the Commonwealth of Australia in 1901. It was the 12th annual Claxton Shield competition, and was held in Adelaide from 28 July to 4 August. The participants were hosts South Australia, defending champions New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia and Queensland. The series was won by an undefeated New South Wales, their sixth Shield title.

The South Perth Baseball Club was established in 1947. In 1952 the club won their fourth 'A' grade premiership. That year their team captain, Jim Dore, won the President's Medal for the 'Best and Fairest' player in the Western Australian 'A' Grade baseball competition. Three of the club's players, Alan Bell, Jim Dore and Eric Goodwin, were chosen in the 1952 State team, which was successful in winning their first Claxton Shield championship.
