A signed baseball from the 1951 Australian Jubilee Baseball Championship. The discoloured brown leather ball has red and black stitching to the seams and is signed in black ink by players from the State teams.

Historical information

Five Australian States competed at the1951 Commonwealth Jubilee Baseball Championship Series; so named to commemorate the Jubilee Year of the Federation of the States of Australia into the Commonwealth of Australia in 1901. It was the 12th annual Claxton Shield competition, and was held in Adelaide from 28 July to 4 August. The participants were hosts South Australia, defending champions New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia and Queensland. The series was won by an undefeated New South Wales, their sixth Shield title.
