Overview

Rectangular cream coloured box with a small viewing window which displays different chemicals found in the pool water. It has 16 different test panels with two circular holes in which water is put into to start the testing. It has a sliding switch bottom right with 520 / 570 on a scale. The back has a panel to insert six 'AA' batteries with text below: [Palintest / Pooltest / PHOTOMETER SYSTEM / Serial G / No. 0286-010 / CE ]

Historical information

The item was acquired from the Armadale Aquatic Centre before renovations were started in 2017. The Centre was opened in December 1980.
The kit was used to make sure the water was safe for community members to use when they used the pool in the summer months.

MEDIUM
This collection of items was used at the Armadale Aquatic Centre. The Aquatic centre was opened in December 1980 and was closed in 2017 to make way for the new Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre which was opened in 2019. There items were collected as they represent the important role played in the social life of the local community and what was involved for a local government in running a public pool.
