Historical information

This first aid bed was acquired from the Armadale Aquatic Centre before renovations commenced in 2017. The centre originally opened in December 1980 with the first aid bed in use from the original opening until the closure for renovations in 2017. It was used for application of first aid on pool patrons who suffered from injuries such as cuts, abrasions, bee stings, blows to the head, and near drownings.
The bed was located in the first aid room of the centre.
The Birtwistle Local Studies Library has a number of diaries from the Armadale Aquatic Centre that include entries recording when pool patrons received first aid.
