Overview

A rectangular piece of rubber, rounded at the top with an indentation on the bottom edge and an oblong hand size hole either side with built in finger holds. It has been sandwiched in two halves, the top being blue and the bottom white. Both sides have text. The text on the front face reads: [QUIC SWIM / WARNING / USE ONLY UNDER / COMPETENT / SUPERVISION].

The text on the reverse face has a list of [EMERGENCY PROCEDURES / for CHILDREN / INFANTS].

Historical information

This item was acquired from the Armadale Aquatic Centre before renovations were started in 2017. The Centre was originally opened in December 1980.

This collection of items was used at the Armadale Aquatic Centre. The Armadale Aquatic Centre was opened in December 1980 and was closed in 2017 to make way for the new Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre which was opened in 2019. These items were collected as they represent the important role played in the social life of the local community and what was involved for a local government in running a public pool.
